The old Mountain (in quecha) built by Inca population in the 15th century, was found in the jungle only 1911 by Hiram Bingham, an American archaeologist. Declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. On the 7th july 2007, it was declared like one of the 7 new wonders of the world.
